Overview

When you rent or buy a house, you will need to connect to the service for your emirate which provides water, electricity and sewerage. Most premises are already registered with these utilities and the person named on the tenancy agreement is regarded as the account holder. Requirements may differ slightly between authorities, so it's worth checking with the individual authority, but generally the below steps are required. Your monthly bills will also include a municipality housing tax, which, over the course of 12 months, adds up to 5% of the rental value of the property.
